In This Case... The Gold

Once again confirming that if you want to know what's really going on, follow the money. In this case... the gold. Very few pay close enough attention to global markets and finance to notice what happens behind the scenes. If you do, you already realize that what is reported in the mainstream news tells a very different story than what happens in the world of money. And as far as preventing a European financial collapse, "anybody out there [who] understands fourth grade arithmetic... know[s] from metaphysical certitude that Europe is done", this according to Ann Barnhardt formerly of Barnhardt Capital Management.

"You even want to make a start at trying to bail out Europe we are talking $25 trillion just to start. And it would then--if you were going to bail out the entirety of Europe--you would now be talking about hundreds of trillions of dollars."

Beyond Kinder Morgan

Recently some of you have become familiar with the benefits of investing in Kinder Morgan Energy Partners (KMP). I thought you would appreciate a list of pipeline and storage companies similar to Kinder Morgan. The S&P Ranking, Dividend Yield, and Weiss Watchdog Rating is also listed to the right of each company. For example, Kinder Morgan Energy Partners shows as: 5 Star - 5.35 yield / B. Remember I am not an investment adviser, nor do I play one in real life. I do, however, accept "that'a boy" kickbacks in the form of $100 bills.

MF Global Collapses

Since the collapse of MF Global on October 31 there has been a firestorm of speculation concerning what the future implications of such a failure will be on the financial markets. In recent weeks several outlets have voiced a growing concern that a bank holiday may be declared during the early part of 2012. Below is one such article. In view of current events it might not be a bad idea to pray about keeping enough cash on hand to cover at least one month worth of expenses.

More Than Democracy

Originally released in a report from March of 2010, Byron King frames the future of the Middle East in terms of ideology.  The intriguing aspect of Mr. King's report is that it was released nine months before the uprisings in Egypt. King suggests that the events in the Middle East are based on an Islamic divide between Sunni and Shia ideology. He also claims possessing Saudi Arabia is the end game and that Iran is pumping money into key areas surrounding Saudi Arabia in an attempt to choke off oil exports to the West.

Currencies and Oil

Don't be surprised if you start seeing more stories like this one. The Berkshire region of Massachusetts is already doing something similar: http://www.berkshares.org.  Indicators suggest we're heading for an eventual new monetary system.

When it comes to long term trends, oil appears to be riding the long term Bull. Here are
two factors:

1.) Oil is priced in dollars and with a devaluing dollar, oil will hedge itself with higher
oil prices.
2.) Rising global demand from China, India and other emerging countries.

Also, remember that oil is a non-renewable resource. The scarcer it becomes, the more expensive it will be.

Excavating The Truth

Why are these two articles and this video  must read/watch? Because they offer two very different views of what has been reported in the US media. The origins of the 2008 crisis and the  2011 Egyptian uprising are both discussed.  These are times that require us to be very discerning in what is forming our view of the world. I am attempting to only post materials that are substantive and helpful for making informed decisions in the future.
